AnduzziFest is back again in 2019 with another powerhouse lineup of live music! Come out with friends and family to celebrate another weekend jam-packed with fun, food, and freaky fresh dance moves. Of course, you might be a little rusty if you haven’t gotten down since last year’s AnduzziFest, so we wanted to bring you a little refresher course to get you started:
If you get a little shy in front of a crowd, the easiest place to start is with a simple bouncing motion. It signals to people around you that you’re having fun, but you just need a little time to feel the rhythm. To do the Beat Bounce, alternate putting your weight on one leg, then the other. Bend your knee, then unbend it. If you’re feeling brave, try to throw in a head nod or an arm motion.
Once you’ve warmed up with a couple of Beat Bounces, it’s time to shake things up. A two step entails stepping out to the side with your left foot, then bringing your right foot to meet it. Then, do it again with your right foot first, bringing your left to meet it. This leaves the rest of your body to really feel the groove. You could try nodding your head to the beat, waving your arms around in the air (almost as if you just don’t care), or rolling your shoulders. It’s a versatile move that you can make your own!
This 80s throwback move is the perfect way to add a little spice to your dance routine. Imagine that you’ve got to stir a gigantic bowl of pudding, but you’ve got to hula hoop at the same time… That’s basically the Cabbage Patch! Start by rolling your torso in a circle. Once you’ve got that down, stick your arms straight out, hands in fists, and circle them around. Man, you look awesome!
This move is pretty complicated because it involves bouncing to the beat while doing something pretty weird with your head. You know how old fashioned typewriters have the part that slides to the right while you’re writing, then has to be pushed back to the left at the end of a line? Imagine that your head is that part of a typewriter. While you’re bouncing to the beat glide your head to the right, then use your hand to push it back to the left. We can’t be held liable if too many people ask you for a dance after you bust out this move.
**WARNING– THIS MIGHT BE THE COOLEST DANCE MOVE YOU EVER DO. MASTERY TAKES YEARS.** So, you know your way around a cabbage patch and you could write a whole essay on your classic dance moves, but do you have what it takes to pull off The Shopping Cart? Clear some space and get ready.
First, hold out your arms like your pushing a shopping cart. This part is all about the illusion. You have to sell it! Then, walk down an “aisle,” rythmically pulling items off the shelves and putting them in your cart… Some spaghetti sauce, a tube of toothpaste, a gallon of milk… Whatever’s on your real shopping list, pretend to toss it into the cart. This move requires the quiet talent of a mime, the confidence of a dancer, and a quick glance in the fridge to see if you’re out of butter. If you think you can handle it, bust it out at AnduzziFest.
